Biosketch

Ms. Tims is a graduate student working towards her Master’s of Arts in Communication from Pittsburg State University. She graduated with her Bachelor’s of Science in Communication with accolades such as Outstanding Senior in the Public Relations Emphasis and Hamilton-Herrin Award which is given to one student in the department who shows great promise in the Graduate Program.

Tims plans to continue her education and earn a Ph. D in political communication and pursue a career within the government sector.

The analysis examines the opportunities and obstacles experienced by first responders to providing patient-centered care within the first 48-hours following the EF-5 Joplin-Duquesne tornado that struck on May 22, 2011 in Joplin, Missouri. The one mile wide tornado struck with winds exceeding 200 mph at 5:34 pm and ravaged a six mile path through parts of Joplin and Duquesne Missouri killing 141 people, destroying more than 2,000 buildings, and displacing over 10,000 people in a matter of minutes.
